The Northern train line has resumed its normal service to Chiang Mai Station. The flood situation in Chiang Mai province has improved significantly, with water levels going down in many parts of the city and its surrounding areas. This has allowed many roads to reopen for vehicles. However, some areas are still facing flooding. The floodwaters at Chiang Mai Station have completely dried up.

The severe flooding in Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, Phayao, Lampang, and many other northern provinces is unprecedented in over 70 years.

No one could have imagined that Tha Pae Road, the walking street, Kad Luang, Warorot Market, and the areas near Chiang Mai Train Station would be so severely flooded.

As a result, the State Railway of Thailand has suspended train services between Nakhon Lampang and Chiang Mai. Trains originating from Bangkok and Nakhon Sawan will terminate at Nakhon Lampang.

Passengers can then transfer to buses from Nakhon Lampang to Lamphun and other areas in Chiang Mai that are not flooded.

The Chiang Mai Railway Station is under water, with the water level reaching about two feet high.

Chiang Mai Railway Station is currently closed, and all train services to Chiang Mai have been temporarily suspended.

The floodwaters have spread widely throughout the surrounding area, making the railway station appear to be an island in a sea of water.

Update 09-Oct-2024: The floodwaters have receded, and the train station has been cleaned up. Chiang Mai Railway Station is now open for service.

Update 09-Oct-2024: The northbound train service has resumed its service to Chiang Mai Station.

As the flood situation in Chiang Mai province begins to improve, many city roads have reopened for traffic. To facilitate passenger travel, the State Railway of Thailand is providing bus services between Lamphun, Chiang Mai, Lampang stations.

Passengers traveling to Chiang Mai were taken to Chiang Mai City by bus from Lampang Station.

Because the floodwaters in Chiang Mai haven’t completely gone away, the bus stop location may change. However, it will still be somewhere within the city of Chiang Mai.

Update 08-Oct-2024: The floodwaters at Chiang Mai Railway Station are starting to dry up. Today, cleanup efforts have begun to prepare the station for service again.

Update 5pm 07-Oct-2024: Sanitation workers has began cleaning streets, removing mud from roads and drainage systems after the flood situation has begun to improve.

Update 4pm 07-Oct-2024: The floodwaters have receded from Warorot Market, leaving behind a muddy mess that needs to be cleaned up. This area was one of the hardest hit by the flooding.

Update 4pm 07-Oct-2024: Update on the Saraphi Railway Road. While the water level has started to recede, many village homes are still severely flooded.

Update 2pm 07-Oct-2024: The floodwaters at Chiang Mai Railway Station, located on Charoen Muang Road, have receded, leaving behind mud that needs to be cleaned up.

Update 1pm 07-Oct-2024: The road in front of the Arcade Bus Station, near the Shell gas station, is still flooded, but small vehicles can now pass through the middle lane.

Update 11am 07-Oct-2024: The Arcade Bus Station: Water levels have almost completely receded. If the water drains completely tomorrow (October 8th), will clean the station and resume normal operations on October 9th.
